When you age wine, you should keep it in storage for an extended period (years) under specific regulations and conditions for it to age correctly. One of the essential factors in the process to consider when aging wine is storage placement. Horizontal storage is recommended for wine because it keeps the cork wet and stops it from getting dry.

Always store your wine in dark rooms with a stable temperature. It is important to store wine in low to no light rooms because light might alter the flavor of the wine. Small movements like picking or turning the bottles can also disturb the process of wine aging.

In addition, always keep your wine refrigerated at a consistent temperature while it ages. Keeping the wine in a cold environment is to keep it from spoiling. Also, store your wine in an environment with a reasonable amount of humidity. Storing your wine in a humid condition stops the cork from drying out. A parched cork might cause the cover to break, which can cause your wine to oxidize.
