California’s reputation as a top wine producer has been well-known since the game-changing Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. Although most experts gave little consideration to California wines before this event, shockwaves traveled through the wine industry when both California red and white wines beat French wines to take home top honors.

The climate of California is optimal for wine production. Its generally warm climate is mitigated by cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, creating exceptional conditions for the growth of both red and white wine grapes.

In addition to its ideal weather conditions, California has diverse topography and soil characteristics that allow winemakers to create a broad range of wine varieties. California is rich in land extremely well-suited for the production of wines that range from Zinfandel to Valdiguie, in addition to its market-dominating Cabernet Sauvignon.
